Protecting ports, harbors, terminals, and ships against cargo theft, smuggling, drugs, weapons, and terrorism continues to pose an ongoing challenge for federal, state, and local governments and industry.
As we move forward, this collaboration will be essential to finding solutions to the security, operations and infrastructure issues we will collectively need to address. The 8th Annual U.S. Maritime Security Conference & Expo will continue to be one of your key partners in focusing on these issues. Our 2009 event will showcase companies in the exhibit hall with technologies, products, and services designed to help with port expansion, modernization and maintenance, congestion, and the additional security requirements that port expansion creates.
India has committed to spend (U.S.) $100 billion over the next ten years on infrastructure projects, with (U.S.) $10 billion to be spent just on the port sector within the next five years.
Port International India 2009 (PI), held in conjunction with SMM India, is an international exhibition and conference on port and terminal technology and equipment, infrastructure expansion and modernization. PI is the most comprehensive exhibition on India's maritime industry, anticipating over 4,000 buyers from India, plus international attendees from over 20 countries.
The purpose of PI is to open the doors for global opportunities for marine, ports and logistics manufacturers and service providers. The exhibition will provide solutions to help the Indian maritime industry meet challenges and continue to become globally competitive by showcasing the latest innovations to end-users. The event will also facilitate interaction between international and Indian companies from the maritime and offshore sectors.
